In this case, millions of cars of Volkswagen have been found to be installed a special software, which can only active the emissions control feature while detecting that cars are checked.  Then the software will turn off this feature in the normal working conditions. By this way, the engine will have a better perform in normal conditions but also enhance the NO emissions to 40 times over the permitted level.

No sooner after EPA’s announcement, Volkswagen has denied all the allegations. According to Volkswagen, they did not install any software on their cars for emissions fraud to cheat the drivers as well as the authorities. The company also confirmed to cooperate with EPA to fully clarify this problem.
The latest allegations of EPA have already created a substantial pressure on the new CEO Matthias Muller of Volkswagen. In the opposite site, EPA also confirmed that their counterpart agencies in California and Canada have already found the evidence showing the company’s violations. The agency hinted that Volkswagen did not provide enough information which is related to this issue.
"VW has once again not fulfilling the responsibility to obey the law to ensure a clean air for the Americans," Cythia Giles, Deputy Director of Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance of EPA confirmed on his official statement.
